One woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Jasper Friday.

According to Trooper Gregory Corble, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the victim was driving down Herman Road, just north of the Jasper city limits, at approximately 9:13 a.m. Friday when her 2011 Chevrolet Malibu "left the roadway and struck a tree."

The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Jenny Self.

Corble reported that Self was taken to Walker Baptist Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hospital staff pronounced her deceased shortly after her arrival.
