A Memorial Mass for University of Alabama Junior James "Jimmy" Gracey will be conducted tonight at 6:00 at St. Francis of Assisi University Parish on the UA campus (811 5th Avenue).

The University of Alabama, Gracey's Theta Chi Fraternity brothers and the Tuscaloosa community are invited to the service in, "praying for the repose of his soul and the consolidation of his loved ones," according to the online announcement.

The popular student died while visiting fraternity brothers studying oversees in Spain during last week's spring break.

An eyewitness report that they had seen the Elmhurst, Illinois native heading toward rocks on the edge of a breakwater at Port Olímpic just outside Barcelona, Spain. Security cameras accessed by authorities reportedly show him entering the water.

Catalon Police have determined the accounting major's death was accidental. However, an investigation is still underway.

The area where Gracey from where Gracey disappeared is a stretch of beach with several restaurants and nightclubs that are frequented by locals and tourists in Barcelona. He was seen on security footage leaving the Shoko Club with an unknown person. Police reported later found his cellphone in the possession of a known offender.

The young man's family posted a social media statement that they were "heartbroken" after is body was identified, writing in a statement, "Jimmy was a deeply loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and our family is struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss."

A memorial mass was also conducted at Sait Ignatius College Prep on Chicago's Near West Side this morning in honor of Gracey. Dozens of students, faculty members, and residents attended the memorial service for the former student who grew up in Elmhurst and graduated from Saint Ignatius.
