The Tuscaloosa Police Department sent out a warning Friday afternoon about a scam making its rounds telling people they have warrants for their arrest.

Several people have reported getting calls from a scammer claiming to be a TPD lieutenant. The scammer is telling people they have warrants for their arrest, that they can take care of by paying $1,500," TPD posted on Facebook Friday afternoon.
"That’s not us. The person is leaving a callback number that goes to a voicemail telling the caller to leave a message for TPD and to have a blessed day."
TPD is asking residents to call 205-349-2121 if they receive a suspicious phone call.
