Tuscaloosa National Night Out Rescheduled for October 20
Tuscaloosa residents will have another opportunity to participate in National Night Out after rainy weather forced organizers to postpone the community event earlier this year.
National Night Out has officially been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the University Mall parking lot in Tuscaloosa.
The event will take place in the east parking lot near Target, marking a location change from the original celebration that had been planned for Government Plaza.
Organizers initially scheduled the event for Tuesday, Aug. 18, but rain forced the cancellation. The new October date gives the community another opportunity to participate in the annual celebration.

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building initiative designed to strengthen relationships between residents, law enforcement agencies and the neighborhoods they serve.
The program focuses on encouraging positive interactions between community members and public safety personnel while promoting neighborhood partnerships and community engagement.
Across the country, National Night Out events bring residents together in settings outside of traditional law enforcement interactions, creating opportunities for conversations, introductions and relationship-building.
For Tuscaloosa residents, the rescheduled event provides another chance to take part in that national effort and connect with others throughout the community.
The updated event flyer confirms the new date, time and location but does not provide a detailed schedule of activities or participating organizations.
Residents who originally planned to attend the August celebration should note that the event will no longer take place at Government Plaza.
Instead, National Night Out will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the University Mall east parking lot near Target.
Organizers are encouraging community members to attend the rescheduled celebration.
