Alabama Credit Union members who regularly visit the Five Points Branch will need to make alternative banking arrangements after a water break caused damage to the building, forcing a temporary closure.

The credit union announced that its Five Points Branch and Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) are temporarily closed due to damage sustained at the location.

According to Alabama Credit Union, the building has been secured, and officials emphasized that the safety of members and employees remains their top priority as they address the situation.

The closure also affects members who have safe deposit boxes at the Five Points location.

Credit union officials say those members will be contacted on Tuesday, October 13, with additional information regarding their belongings and when they may be able to access their safe deposit boxes.

While the Five Points location remains closed, members can continue conducting banking transactions at other Alabama Credit Union branches.

Customers can also access their accounts and manage their finances using the credit union's online and mobile banking services.

The closure may cause temporary inconvenience for members who rely on the Five Points location for their regular banking needs, particularly those who typically use the branch's ITM for transactions.

Alabama Credit Union has not announced a reopening date or provided details about the extent of the damage caused by the water break.

Officials say they are working toward reopening the branch and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

In its announcement, the credit union apologized for the inconvenience and thanked members for their patience and understanding during the temporary closure.

Members needing banking services in the meantime are encouraged to visit another branch or use the credit union's digital banking options.
