Mark your calendars for an evening where Tuscaloosa’s history takes center stage. Historic Tuscaloosa will host its fourth annual Progressive Dinner, Dining Through Time: A Taste of Historic Tuscaloosa, on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The signature fundraising event brings together exceptional food, historic architecture, and community as guests dine their way through the city’s storied past while helping preserve Tuscaloosa’s historic landmarks.

“Each year, proceeds from the Progressive Dinner are dedicated to a specific preservation project,” said the press release. “This year's event will benefit the Old Tavern, helping prepare the nearly 200-year-old structure for its bicentennial celebration in 2027 while also addressing critical repairs needed to preserve one of Alabama's oldest surviving inns.”

"Every ticket purchased and every sponsorship secured helps preserve an important piece of Tuscaloosa's history," said William Hawkins, Executive Director of Historic Tuscaloosa. “As we prepare to celebrate the Old Tavern's 200th birthday next year, we have an incredible opportunity to ensure this landmark remains a place where future generations can experience our community's history firsthand."

Guests will take in an evening of history and hospitality; the journey begins at the Historic Tuscaloosa's Battle-Friedman House, where guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and live entertainment. Next up is the Jemison–Van de Graaff Mansion for a gourmet dinner with beverages in one of Tuscaloosa's most iconic historic homes. Then guests will conclude the evening at the Historic Bama Bed & Breakfast, the historic 1823 home that will offer a variety of Southern-inspired desserts.

Organizers said businesses, organizations, and individuals can secure one of the event's five sponsorships. “Five sponsorship levels, ranging from Friends ($250) to Premier Sponsor ($5,000), offer a variety of recognition opportunities, complimentary event tickets, and exclusive benefits.”

In addition, those interested in attending the annual event should know that tickets will be available soon.
