West Alabama Can Expect Another Cold Weather Surge
Some Alabamians enjoyed our most recent cold snap, while others (like me) were shivering like a chihuahua. Now, West Alabama is expected to see its coldest temperatures of the season next week.
What’s Behind These Early Winter-Like Temperatures?
“A storm moving across the Northwest is forecast to dive into the Plains, pulling cold air south from Canada,” AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok explained. “This will be the first taste of wintry weather for millions, with a dramatic temperature drop and blustery winds. The surge of chilly air could briefly reach parts of the Southeast. Temperatures will feel more like mid-December or even Christmastime in many places next week.”
West Alabama Possible Low Temps
These are the current expected low temperatures from the National Weather Service in Birmingham. As weather conditions change, the forecast may change.

Any Chance of a Freeze?
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said there is a “medium to high chance for our first widespread freeze of the season occurring Tuesday morning.”
Snow Chances?
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “We note global models even hint at a few snow flurries on Monday across North and Northeast Alabama.”
