Weather Alert: Critical Fire Weather Conditions Across Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for areas along and south of Interstate 20. This goes into effect today from noon until 7 p.m.
When a “Red Flag Warning” is issued, that means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.”
The concern is northwest winds from 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30 mph. Plus the relative humidity is as low as 20 to 25 percent.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the “combination of a dry air mass and windy conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions. Currently, outdoor burning is not recommended.
