On October 29th the community will have a chance to impact those at risk and make a difference. The Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation will hold its "Strike Out Suicide" fundraiser with a family-friendly bowling event at Bowlero starting at 1 p.m.

The funds raised will equip students with mental health backpacks along with training in suicide prevention for adults and educators in our region.

The foundation launched in 2017 as a way to honor the memory of Kristen Amerson, a young person who battled her own mental health issues and ultimately gave in to thoughts of taking her young life.

Amerson, according to family and friends, loved life and hid her struggle that was at war underneath the facade. The goal is to make sure that young people have a way to cope, share, and avoid the same fate.
