Each month, I get to be a small part of the Golden Apple Award for the Teacher of the Month, presented by Mercedes-Benz of Tuscaloosa!

This month, we visited Southview Elementary in Tuscaloosa, and it was a fantastic experience.

I must give credit to the fantastic staff at Southview because from the moment you walk in, there is a spirit that is so welcoming and exciting that you can’t help but feed off of it.

They have great people working there, which is why it’s no surprise to me that we had so many nominees from Southview, and, in particular, an incredible letter about this special teacher.

That teacher?

Jacqueline Freeman-Johnson is the award-winning Golden Apple Teacher of the Month.

The person who submitted her name said that she breaks the rule of “you shouldn’t take your work home with you” because she cares so deeply about her students 24/7.

She makes each student feel they can achieve anything and, most importantly, that they are valued and loved.

That is worth more than any dollar amount.

This teacher received multiple nominations, which is impressive, and we are thrilled that she won this month.
