What a week it's been for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

We were spanked in Florida by the Seminoles after an opening drive that looked pretty good.

It was all downhill after that first TD.

Well, we have all been pretty bummed, and then we spoke to Crimson Tide legend Bob Baumhower.

It's the 50th anniversary of the 1975 team, which will be honored on the field during the Wisconsin game.

Let's go back in time for a moment.

Some folks forget that our legendary coach, Paul "Bear Bryant, had agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins to leave Alabama just a few years before that season.

Dolphins owner Joe Robbie flew to Birmingham and met Bear in a hotel room.

The deal was done. At the time, it would have been the most significant contract for a Head Coach in the NFL.

The university athletic department and even the President of the University of Alabama told Bryant they "needed him now more than ever".

Well, that convinced him to stay put in Tuscaloosa.

Fast forward to 1975, and we are ranked #2 in every major preseason poll in college football.

It's time for the season opener on national TV against Missouri.

Oh, yeah, Missouri was unranked. The team from the Midwest spanked us like Florida State at Legion Field in Birmingham.

Everyone said we were done.

The season is over. WE SUCK.

NOT SO FAST

The next game against Clemson? We won 56-0.

The week after? We won 40-7.

32-6

52-0

30-7

45-0

Those were the next six games back in 1975.

After falling from #2 to #14 in the polls, we were back in the top 5.

We closed out the season with a victory in the very first Sugar Bowl in New Orleans over Penn State.

Penn State was #8 in the country, and we beat them 13-6 to win the Sugar Bowl and complete an 11-game winning streak.

The point?

It's 1975 all over again.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary.

I hope the current team hears this story and it resonates with them.

Listen as legend Bob Baumhower tells the story in his own words.
