King's 2022-2023 basketball experience includes an average of "9.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and one block per game" plus "shooting 50% overall and 74% from the free throw line."
In addition to basketball, the press release noted King's involvement in mentoring student-athletes, acting as a resident for Upward Bound, and being a part of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Her honors include Stillman College Dean's List, SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team and a two-time winner of the SSAC Player of the Week.
Stillman's Head Coach, Alico Dunk, commented on King's qualities. "King is one of the most mature and well-rounded student-athletes that I have coached in quite some time." She also noted King's tutoring and volunteer work.
Terrance Whittle, the Athletic Director for Stillman said of King that she was "an outstanding student" and a "talented and hardworking athlete."
King is the Southern State Athletic Conference's female nomination for the nationwide competition. The region, which represents Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana, also selected Mobile, Alabama's Ezra McKenna as the male nominee.
