Linebackers Deontae Lawson (a Mobile native), Justin Jefferson, and wide receiver Germie Bernard will be absent from the Senior Bowl.  The Senior Bowl executive director, Drew Fabianich, told AL.com's Greg Stephenson that all three players are withdrawing from the event due to injuries.

“Everybody that’s dropped so far has been an injury.” Fabianich added, “Now do I know that is true? I don’t know. But they said it was an injury.”

These three players accounted for much of Alabama’s production on both offense and defense. Bernard led the Crimson Tide in receiving yards (862) and receptions (64), tallying 9 total touchdowns (seven receiving and two rushing). Lawson topped the team in tackles (89), with Jefferson close behind at 85. Together, they combined for 11 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles this season.

Another notable Crimson Tide member who will not be in attendance at the Senior Bowl due to injury is Ty Simpson, who turned down his invitation to the event despite entering the 2026 NFL Draft on Tuesday. Simpson got banged up towards the end of the year and even sat out for the second half of Alabama’s CFP Quarterfinals loss to Indiana in the Rose Bowl.

Alabama will still have five players active in the Senior Bowl with center Parker Brailsford, defensive lineman Tim Keenan, and LT Overton, running back Jam Miller, and tight end Josh Cuevas all currently set to make an appearance in front of 28 NFL General Managers, and at least 12 NFL coaches.

The Panini Senior Bowl kicks off January 31 in Mobile, Alabama, at Hancock Whitney Stadium at 1:30 p.m. CT.
