SEATTLE - Fullbacks are still a part of the NFL, but they aren't talked about much or used frequently. Their roles are evolving, and although the numbers of fullbacks have decreased, they haven't disappeared completely. Former Alabama tight end and current Seattle Seahawks fullback Robbie Ouzts may have reignited interest in the position after his preseason debut performance on Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Ouzts made his presence known Thursday with a 17-yard reception for a first down, displaying the skills he developed as a tight end and demonstrating his speed and agility, as well as his blocking abilities. One block allowed running back George Holani to score a 24-yard touchdown, and another block later allowed Holani to gain 19 yards.

He impressed early on, and his blocking abilities consistently opened lanes for explosive runs throughout the first half.

Ouzts left a lasting impression, and social media was abuzz about how the anticipated starting fullback could significantly impact the Seahawks offense.

As of now, Ouzts is listed as the starting fullback, and Brady Russell is behind him. The two are the only fullbacks on the roster. Should Ouzts continue to impress during training camp and preseason, he could have his spot secured, and Thursday night was a clear indication that he is a competitor.
