Georgia's wide receiver depth took a hit on Wednesday, with the news that rotational wide receiver London Humphreys has contracted mononucleosis and is unlikely to play in the matchup against Alabama.

Jonathan Williams of Georgia Bulldogs on SI reported that Humphreys is unlikely to play in the matchup against Alabama after contracting what is known as the "kissing disease". Mononucleosis can also be contracted by sharing food or drinks with someone who has been infected, or by touching something that an infected person has touched.

Humphreys is not a starter for Georgia but has been a rotational piece in the offense. He recorded two catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against Clemson. While he recorded naps in the games against Tennessee Tech and Kentucky for Georgia, he did not record any stats.

Humphreys transferred to Georgia after spending 2023 at Vanderbilt. He recorded 22 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns for the Commodores in 2023.

The SEC implemented mandatory injury reports for conference games this offseason, and the first report will be released on Wednesday night. Humphreys will likely be on the report, listed as doubtful with an "illness."

Georgia may not have lost a starter before Alabama, but losing a key rotational piece at wide receiver is never good before such a big matchup, especially against the Crimson Tide.
