“At This Time, No Plans to Alter the Contest” University of Alabama Says About Georgia Matchup
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- With the threat of tropical depression nine (likely to become hurricane Isaias) in the Gulf to the state of Alabama, the University of Alabama currently has no plans to alter its Saturday primetime contest with the Georgia Bulldogs, according to a statement released by the university Tuesday night.

"Alabama Athletics is closely monitoring the weather forecast ahead of Saturday's football game vs. Georgia. At this time, there are no plans to alter the contest," Alabama Athletics said in a statement. "We will continue to observe the conditions throughout the week and remain in communication with the Southeastern Conference office, as needed. Fans are encouraged to rely on official Alabama Athletics and SEC channels for the latest information regarding Saturday's game."
According to the National Weather Service on a 4:00 p.m. CT webinar, the storm is currently forecasted to strengthen into a tropical storm by Wednesday, with the possibility of developing into a hurricane by Thursday. The storm is projected to make landfall along or near the Alabama Gulf Coast on Friday night into Saturday morning.
The SEC has previously moved four games in the last 10 years. In 2016, Hurricane Matthew forced Georgia's matchup with South Carolina to move from Saturday night in Columbia to Sunday afternoon. The LSU matchup with Florida, scheduled for the same week, was postponed and later rescheduled. In September 2022, Hurricane Ian forced South Carolina's matchup against South Carolina State to move from Saturday to Thursday, while Florida moved its home matchup with Eastern Washington back from Saturday to Sunday.
No. 6 Alabama will host No. 2 Georgia on Saturday, October 10, inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT on ABC.
