Strayhorn is a 6-foot-3, 318-pound offensive lineman from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and was teammates with current Alabama offensive lineman Michael Carroll during their time at IMG Academy. Strayhorn originally signed with the Michigan Wolverines as a part of Michigan's 2025 recruiting class. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Strayhorn helps bolster an Alabama offensive line that will replace four of its five starters from the 2025 season, with Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford all declaring for the draft, Kam Dewberry out of eligibility, and Wilkin Formby entering the transfer portal. Strayhorn was rated as a three-star offensive line prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 40 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 76 player in the state of Florida.

Strayhorn's father, Jason Strayhorn, is a Michigan State legacy and former football color commentator for the Spartans. He played at Michigan State from 1994 to 1998 under former Spartan, LSU, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Jason Strayhorn was a team captain and first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1998.
