Wednesday, a bombshell column from On3's Andy Staples and Chris Low describing how disgruntled Alabama boosters are feeling surrounding the Crimson Tide's week one blunder against FSU and the state of the program under Kalen DeBoer made headlines across the country.

Josh Pate, a national college football analyst for 247Sports and the host of Josh Pate's College Football Show, joined The Next Round and questioned the motives of the anonymous Alabama booster.

"It's not that they [Andy Staples and Chris Low] didn't get that quote, it's that that guy's nameless for a reason," Josh Pate told the Next Round Thursday, "[...] those people like to talk. They earn the right to, they pay the money to be able to. I would ask this: [...] what is it that you want for the program? I would imagine this person would want to succeed; they pay a lot of money to see them succeed! Do you really think giving that quote, anonymously or not, is constructive after one week? Even if that's the conversation you're having behind the scenes. What purpose does that serve, and how do you not know that you're not further exacerbating the situation by knowing the mushroom cloud of a column like that is gonna have, that otherwise may have that situation find its way back on track? How do you know that you're not further screwing yourself up?"

"I listened to it," continued Pate, "and I always think it's foolish to be talking Hot Seat this time of the year[...] I'm certainly not doing it with Kalen DeBoer."

The Crimson Tide's lackluster week one performance has sown doubt in every corner of the Alabama fanbase. The Crimson Tide is 5-5 in its last ten games and seems to be soft at the point of attack and prone to costly mental errors.

Alabama has a chance to write the ship Saturday at 6:45 p.m. as they welcome the ULM Warhawks.
