In the wise words of former Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith, "We (Alabama) don't stop, we just keep reloading".

Will Anderson Jr., who is the best defensive player in the upcoming NFL Draft according to multiple draft analysts is leaving after the Sugar Bowl. To replace him, Alabama has just signed 4-star recruit, Jordan Renaud.

According to On3 recruiting, Renaud is the 66th-best player in the Class of 2023 and a top-10 edge rusher. He started his high school football at Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Fla., and then moved to Tyler, Tx. because his father became the assistant coach of Tyler Legacy. In his senior season with the Red Raiders, Renaud recorded 66 tackles, two sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and eight tackles for loss.

Every school wanted the 6-foot-3 245 pound edge rusher but only two schools caught Renaud's eye. On the day he committed it was a two-way battle between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Originally Brett Venables and the Sooners were the favorites to land Renaud, but he decided to sign his letter of intent to play for Nick Saban and come down to Tuscaloosa Ala.

Renaud joins Keon Keeley, Yhonzae Pierre, Hunter Osborne, and Edric Hill as the defensive lineman who joined the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Class of 2023. According to 247 Sports, with the addition of Renaud, Alabama has the number one recruiting class in 2023, with a total score of 318 points. The next closest is the Georgia Bulldogs who only have 301 points.

Many Alabama fans are worried about the defense going into next year without "The Terminator". But with recruits such as Renaud, Alabama should be back and ready to compete for a National Championship in the 2023-24 college football season.
