Houston Mallette is ruled out for the Texas A&M matchup

COLLEGE STATION, Texas.- On Friday, Alabama men's basketball coach Nate Oats told media members that Houston Mallette will not play in the Crimson Tide's matchup against the No.10 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.

"His knees have been bothering him still," said Oats. "If we can get his knees right, he's going to be a really good player in this program."

Mallette's debut came on Nov.10 after he and the staff decided to burn his redshirt before the matchup in Chapel Hill, where the Crimson Tide beat North Carolina 94-79.

When Mallette joined the Crimson Tide for the 2024-25 season, he originally would not see the court after being listed as a redshirt due to knee issues limiting him.

With Mallette still battling knee injuries, many evaluations have to be done along with options on the table. "If his knees don't get better, that's something we have to evaluate," said Oats when asked if there could be a medical redshirt option.
