Four Crimson Tide Stars Named to Preseason All American Teams
As we continue to prepare for the highly-anticipated start of the first Alabama football season without Nick Saban since 2006, the media is beginning to put out the preseason award lists and preseason watch lists.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation released their Preseason All-American list, with four Crimson Tide members making appearances, tied for second with Notre Dame and behind only the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The two Crimson Tide members of the first team included offensive lineman Tyler Booker and placekicker Graham Nicholson.
Booker was a captain for the Crimson Tide last season and a staple along the Tide's offensive line. He's expected to continue in his development and depart Tuscaloosa as a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Last season, he was named First-team All-SEC according to the Associated Press and Second-team All-SEC by coaches around the conference.
Nicholson transferred to Alabama from Miami (Ohio) after winning the Lou Groza Award last season, awarded to the nation's top kicker in college. Nicholson won the award over long-time Alabama kicker Will Reichard, who set the NCAA all-time scoring record last season. Nicholson made 27 of 28 field goals last season while making 35 of 37 extra points. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
Two members of the Crimson Tide were named to the second team as well. Center Parker Brailsford and punter James Burnip were named to the second team. Brailsford was the starter for the best offensive line in the country, as Washington won the Joe Moore Award last season. Brailsford transferred to Alabama in January after Kalen DeBoer took the job and left Washington for Alabama. He was an All-Pac-12 Second Team member in his first season as a starter for Washington.
Burnip was named Second-Team All-SEC by the conference coaches. He had 24 punts of 50 yards or more last season and five for 60 or more yards. he was named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award last season.
