Former Alabama Football DB Dies After Car Accident
In a tragic turn of events, former Alabama football player Terrance Howard succumbed to grievous injuries last week after being struck by a vehicle in North Carolina, according to multiple reports.
Howard, originally hailing from Texas, had been a member of the Crimson Tide's roster as a walk-on during the 2023 season. He recently transferred to North Carolina Central during the offseason.
The unfortunate incident transpired as Howard relocated his personal effects from Alabama to North Carolina. Near Salisbury, North Carolina, Howard was involved in a minor vehicular collision. He reportedly exited his vehicle to ascertain the well-being of the other driver involved. It was at this juncture that a third vehicle tragically struck Howard, inflicting critical injuries.
Howard was promptly transported to a medical facility in Charlotte, where he was hospitalized in critical condition. Despite exhaustive medical efforts, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The lack of identification on Howard’s person at the time of the accident resulted in a protracted period before his family could be notified of the tragic accident.
Though Howard did not see game time as a true freshman defensive back for Alabama in 2023, his presence was integral to the team, even traveling with the squad to the prestigious Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal. His potential was recognized by North Carolina Central, an esteemed HBCU in Durham, which had extended a full scholarship to Howard.
This untimely demise of Terrance Howard has reverberated through the football community, casting a somber pall over both Alabama and North Carolina Central. Howard’s aspirations and burgeoning career have been tragically curtailed, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him and admired his dedication and promise on and off the field.
