There were both barn-burners and blowouts Friday in week five of West Alabama high school football. Here’s a look at the scores:
Tuscaloosa County held Oak Mountain on a late two-point try to win a road region game 24-23.
Paul Bryant held off a furious Northridge rally to win 27-21 in overtime on the road.
Central fell at home to McAdory 42-14.
Tuscaloosa Academy could not stop Lamar County’s rushing attack and lost on the road 52-35 despite another great game by Knights quarterback Preston Lancaster.
Holt broke a long losing streak and beat Dallas County 28-12 at home.
ACA travelled to Hale County and left with a 29-6 win behind quarterback Kai Young.
Holy Spirit lost on the road to Lynn 47-0.
Tuscaloosa Christian lost in Rainsville to Cornerstone 42-22.
Bibb County doubled up the Bears at Sipsey Valley 42-21.
Gordo got big games from running backs CJ Lark and Ethan Wilder to win at Tarrant 48-20.
Greensboro lost at home to Prattville Christian 34-0.
Pickens County lost a tough one to South Lamar 21-20.
Sulligent outscored Aliceville 49-30.
Northside lost 20-17 at Haleyville.
Hillcrest got three touchdowns from TJ Banks, two on punt returns en route to a 56-6 win at Brookwood.
In the Birmingham area, Hewitt-Trussville won at Hoover 28-7 and Thompson cruised over Chelsea 45-0.
