Alabama Closer Named Stopper of the Year Finalist
Alabama's closing pitcher has been named a finalist for one of the most coveted awards in baseball. Carson Ozmer, Alabama's standard closing pitcher during the Tide's 41-win 2025 season, has been named a finalist for Stopper of the Year.

The National College Baseball Writers Association announced the finalists on Wednesday. Ozmer is one of 13 finalists for the award, presented annually to the best relief pitcher in Division I college baseball.
The winner of the award will be announced on Friday, June 13, during a news conference at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
Four other SEC pitchers join Ozmer among the 13 finalists for the award:
Casan Evans (LSU)
Dylan Crooks (Oklahoma)
Sawyer Hawks (Vanderbilt)
Dylan Volantis (Texas)
The full list of finalists can be viewed here.
Ozmer appeared in a team-high 29 games for the Tide during the 2025 season, notching 17 saves on the year, most by any Division I player. Ozmer managed a 3.29 ERA in his 29 appearances and produced 22 scoreless innings. He held opposing batters to a .193 batting average, which was the second-lowest among Crimson Tide pitchers this season.
In 38.1 innings pitched this season, Ozmer struck out 48 batters, equating to 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings mark.
Ozmer, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound graduate student, transferred to Alabama for his final season of eligibility after spending the previous four seasons at Penn. He was named First-Team All-SEC as the Tide's primary reliever during the 2025 season.
