CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Coach Dave Canales announced Wednesday that Bryce Young will be the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers this Sunday against the New York Giants. This will be Young's third straight start this season. He currently holds a 3-17 record as a starter, with a 1-3 record this year.

Young was benched after the Panthers started the season 0-2, spending time developing behind Andy Dalton. However, Dalton sustained a minor injury from a car accident before week eight, allowing Young to return as the starter. Dalton had a record of 1-4 before his injury, which has kept him out for the last two games. Although Dalton would be available on Sunday and has shown no limitations during practice, Canales decided to continue with Young against the 2-7 Giants.

In Young's return, the Panthers fell 28-14 against the Denver Broncos in week eight, but he began to show flashes of his Alabama form despite the defeat. In week nine, he claimed his first win of the season and the team's second victory overall.

In a closely contested battle against the New Orleans Saints, Young guided the Panthers to a 23-22 victory over their division rivals. The game-winning play came as Young connected with running back Chubba Hubbard just before time expired in the fourth quarter, reminiscent of his successful passes to Brian Robinson Jr, and Jase McClellan during his college career. "I talk about finishing all the time. That's everything. Finish plays, practice, quarters, halves. Finish games," said Canales on Young's performance in week nine. "He did a fantastic job of finishing that game the right way, finding a way to win and really battling that way."

As the Panthers progress through the season, they will keep assessing Young to make their future decisions."Every week we're assessing Bryce, taking it day by day of just seeing him grow, seeing him develop, be under Coach and work with him," said General Manager Dan Morgan. "We're excited to see him growing every day. We're excited to work with him in the future," said Morgan. "At the end of the day, we'll have those conversations about the long term once the season ends, and we'll see where we're at."

Young's challenges are far from over, as the Giants are favored according to BetMGM NFL odds, presenting another significant test. Meanwhile, Young intends to focus on the present and remain thankful for his opportunities. "I trust in God to guide my life," said Young. "Obviously, my play being evaluated is out of my hands," Young said. "I want to do everything I can to help the team win. I know after every week it'll obviously be an evaluation. So I try not to think about that."
