In his post, Herbstreit revealed Ben's cancer had spread to his organs, and the family had to make the difficult decision to let Ben pass peacefully.

Ben Herbstreit made his College Gameday debut on November 6, 2021, and has become a staple of the College Football Saturday show ever since. Over the past two college football seasons, Ben traveled with Kirk Herbstreit, making stops in some of the best and brightest college towns across the country.

Many college football fans are re-living Ben's appearance on their campus.

Ben made several appearances on television crashing broadcasts and the College Gameday show, often crashing the broadcast. The love he had for Kirk Herbstreit and Kirk had for Ben was evident, with Ben and Kirk having a lot of memorable moments on the field pregame.

Earlier this week Herbstreit had revealed Ben was struggling and dealing with Vitamin C infusions and Chemotherapy, noting that the 24-48 hours afterward would be a crucial stretch if Ben was going to survive.

Herbstreit honored Ben in his post, calling Ben "1-of-1."

Rest easy, Ben Herbstreit. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is hurting from his passing.
