TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After a 17-hour delay, Alabama baseball closed out its Super Regional sweep of the St. John's Red Storm to clinch the Crimson Tide's first trip to the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, in 27 years.

Alabama's opponent faced a similar delay, with the Lawrence Super Regional in Lawrence, Kansas, suffering a rain delay and game postponement for game two between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oklahoma Sooners. After continuing the game, the Oklahoma Sooners defeated Kansas 13-2 in game two, with the Sooners punching their ticket to the Men's College World Series, setting up a regular-season rematch with the Crimson Tide in Omaha.

 

Alabama and Oklahoma played in the Crimson Tide's fourth regular-season series, when Alabama was playing its best baseball of the regular season. The Crimson Tide took game one in Norman, Oklahoma, 10-7, with Tyler Fay earning the win on the pitcher's mound and Bryce Fowler leading the Tide with 4 RBI. Brady Neal went 4-for-4, hitting on Thursday night with two runs and 1 RBI. Game two went to the Sooners 4-2, with Zane Adams picking up the loss. Bryce Fowler again led Alabama with three hits and 1 RBI.

 

The rubber match on Saturday afternoon went to the Crimson Tide 3-2, with Myles Upchurch picking up the victory. Bryce Fowler led the Tide for a third-straight day with two hits as Alabama scored its three runs with Bryce Fowler, Justin Lebron, and Brady Neal. With Alabama's game one and three victories, the Tide took the regular season series over the Sooners.

 

Alabama and Oklahoma will square off on Saturday, June 13, at 2:00 p.m. CT in the Men's College World Series. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
