Alabama Lands Five Star Wide Receiver

Alabama's wide receivers used to be heralded as the best group in the country, and the Crimson Tide had a first-round wide receiver drafted from 2019 to 2021. The room took a bit of a dip in recent years, but new wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard just had three wide receivers drafted in the top 100 of the 2024 NFL draft.

Alabama has high-profile receivers on the roster currently, led by Germie Bernard, a transfer wide receiver from Washington. In addition, highly anticipated freshmen Caleb Odom and Ryan Williams will have an opportunity to contribute as freshmen.

Alabama's receiver recruiting has stepped up with Shephard and the current staff, and it's beginning to pay off early in DeBoer's time with the Crimson Tide.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has committed to the University of Alabama.

He committed to the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

The Choctaw County High School prospect visited Alabama on June 21. During his junior season in 2023, Cunningham caught 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Cunningham is rated as the No. 1 player in Mississippi and the No. 2 wide receiver in the country. He's the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Cunningham's primary recruiter is Alabama wide receiver JaMarcus Shephard, and secondary is defensive line coach Freddie Roach.

Alabama still has the No. 2 ranked recruiting class according to 247 Sports composite rankings.
