In his draft declaration post, Philon wrote, "Returning home to Alabama and wearing the script A this year has been one of the greatest honors of my life."

Philon wrote that his dream has always been to play in the NBA, and he chose to continue to pursue the goal by declaring for the NBA draft.

Philon was a four-star point guard from Mobile, Alabama, who signed as a member of the Crimson Tide's star 2024 recruiting class. He originally signed with Kansas but asked out of his letter of intent in April before signing with the Tide and enrolling less than a month later. The highly-touted prospect started 29 games and appeared in 37 for the Crimson Tide this season, averaging 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and 31.5 percent from three-point range.

His top performance came in the SEC tournament against Kentucky, where he scored 21 points, collected three rebounds, and had four assists in the Tide's 99-70 win over the Wildcats on Friday in Nashville.

Philon will be a one-and-done player for the Crimson Tide under Nate Oats, joining JD Davison, Josh Primo, Brandon Miller, and Noah Clowney as Tide stars to only play one season in Tuscaloosa under Oats.

Primo, Miller, and Clowney were all drafted in the first round of their respective drafts. Davison was drafted in the second round.
