Alabama authorities have identified a man who was killed last week in a crash in Walker County after which the Tesla he was driving caught fire.

Senior Trooper Gregeory Corble, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the driver was 29-year-old Joshua K. Leblanc, a Huntsville man.

Leblanc was reportedly driving a 2021 Tesla Model 3 on Hill Road in Walker County when the vehicle left the road, struck a guardrail, collided with several trees, and then caught fire.

Corble said Leblanc died at the scene, and his body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where his identity was later confirmed.

The accident happened last Tuesday, July 22nd, around 2:45 p.m. on Hill Road near Drummond Switch Cut Off Road about two miles south of Empire.

No other details were available on Thursday.
