Troopers said Bratton was driving a 2004 Lincoln Navigator that left the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled over.

King said Bratton was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the SUV.

The crash happened near the 64 mile marker on U.S. 82, about 10 miles east of Tuscaloosa. Helena, where Bratton lived, is in Shelby County south of Birmingham.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division are still investigating. ALEA said nothing further is available.
