According to the first responders, the accident happened on I-20/59 around Mile Marker 51 in western Greene County not far from the Tuscaloosa County line.

They say the accident will require hazmat teams to clean up, and will impact traffic in both directions. They said eastbound traffic toward Mississippi is already backed up and wrecker recovery is expected to also impact westbound traffic back toward Tuscaloosa.

Heavy rains are also flooding roads in the area.

The ambulance service is asking drivers to avoid the area if possible and to slow down in these wet conditions.
