The combination convenience store and gas station is located just northwest of Greensboro on the road to Eutaw in Greene County. It is frequently used as a gathering place for residents of the surrounding area.

Authorities have released no details of what led to the shooting or if there are any known suspects. It is known that there is no one in custody at this time.

The incident is still under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call the Hael County Sheriff's Office at 334-624-3081.

This is the first fatal shooting incident involving the Sawyerville community since a resident there was charged with the murder of a rival over an incident that took place some time ago.
