Search Underway for Missing Fisherman on Black Warrior River in Hale County
Local and state law enforcement are on the Black Warrior River in Greene County searching for a missing fisherman whose empty boat was discovered Monday morning.
A dispatcher at the Hale County Sheriff's Office confirmed the search on Tuesday but could not share details, saying those who could answer questions were in the field assisting the ongoing operation.

Marine and aviation units with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are also involved with the search, which is reportedly near on the river near Akron, a small town southwest of Moundville in Hale County.
In a Tuesday afternoon update, ALEA Captain Jeremy J. Burkett identified the boater and said the search is actually taking place in Greene County.
"Larry James, 47, of Helena is currently missing after the vessel he was last seen operating was found on the riverbank of the Black Warrior River south of the Lock 8 Boat Landing in Greene County," he wrote. "The Lock 8 Boat Landing is located in Hale County, however, the boat was found on the Greene County side of the Black Warrior River."
The Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service is also in Hale County to assist in the search.
As of 4:45 Tuesday afternoon, James has not been located, but the search continues.
