Governor Kay Ivey Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Winter Storm
Governor Kay Ivey has declared a state of emergency in advance of a winter storm that could bring significant ice accumulation to portions of Alabama.

The state of emergency will be in effect in counties in north and west Alabama as of 5 p.m. Sunday, February 14. The declaration allows the state to implement its emergency operations plan and place emergency management agencies on alert to better prepare for the impacts of the approaching winter storm.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of the state from 6 p.m. Sunday through late Monday night. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to avoid travel until the threat of winter weather has passed.
