Tuscaloosa Police to Provide Popsicles in 4 City Parks This Month
Officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department will visit four newer city parks this month to provide popsicles to visitors as summer settles in.
The department announced the initiative on Facebook Monday and said Popsicles in the Park will hit different sites across Tuscaloosa every Thursday this month.
TPD is partnering with two local food trucks, Cajun Creme Ice Cream and Kool Moe's Ice Kream, to provide free treats to park visitors each week.
TPD and Cajun Creme will visit Parker-Haun Park in the Tuscaloosa River District this Thursday, June 6th, and the Randall Family Park in north Tuscaloosa two weeks later on the 20th.
The department and Kool Moe's will go to the just-opened Western Riverwalk on June 13th and to Anne N. Shelby Park off 15th Street on June 27th.
The events are totally free and will also feature family-friendly activities like a supersized tic-tac-toe board and sidewalk chalking.
"We have several newer parks that people may not have visited yet, so we decided to visit one each week and treat everyone to popsicles," said Stephanie Taylor, a department spokeswoman. "Officers had a lot of fun last year and we had a good turnout."
Make a plan to visit the park nearest to you this month, or go wild and check out all four every Thursday in June.
