Fred Franklin Jones, age 91, of Northport, Alabama, died Friday March 17, 2023 peacefully at home with family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday March 21, 2023 at Memory Hill Gardens with Reverend Ben Talmadge officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing.

Fred was born January 30, 1932 to the late Pearl Frances Camp Jones and Floyd Mitchell Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Myrtle Friday Jones; son Mark Franklin Jones; his parents; and siblings Mildred Hargrove and Douglas Jones.

Survivors include his brother, Leon Jones; daughters Vicki Fondren (Gene) and Susan Rohrer (Mark); granddaughters Allison Rohrer Collins (Brighton), Emma Rohrer, and McKinley Rohrer; and several other family members including Wes Fondren & family, Egena Colville & family, and Joy Staggs & family; brother-in-law Red Scott and sisters-in-law Jo Ruth Friday and Brenda Randolph. Fred also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

Fred was born and raised in Tuscaloosa County. In 1968 he and his wife built their family home in Northwood Lake, where he lived for 55 years. He enjoyed spending his time at Moody Swamp, being at the beach with his family eating fried shrimp, and repeatedly telling stories about growing up in the country. Fred had a gift of working with his hands, known to be able to make or fix anything. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

Pallbearers will be Brighton Collins, Tom Liddell, Frankie Logan, Stanley Logan, Joey Hargrove, Paul Friday.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice.
