Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Last Week’s Fatal Shooting in Tuscaloosa
Police in Tuscaloosa have identified and are now searching for a suspect they believe is responsible for a fatal shooting at an apartment complex last Wednesday.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to 1350 James I Harrison Jr Parkway to Forrester Gardens apartments last Wednesday afternoon.
One male victim, 37-year-old Cornelius Terell Smith, was wounded in the shooting and eventually succumbed to his injuries and died.
The VCU took over the investigation, and Kennedy said after working the case extensively, they have identified the suspect in this homicide - the 19th in Tuscaloosa this year - as Cedric McClinton Jr, age 50.
McClinton is pictured in the cutout above and his full mugshot is below.
At this time warrants have been obtained charging McClinton with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle.
"McClinton is actively being sought by local area law enforcement," Kennedy said. "If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of McClinton, they are urged to contact their local law enforcement or the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690."
