Former Alabama DL Lorenzo Washington Passes Away
Lorenzo Washington, 34, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14th.
The details behind Washington’s death have yet to be made public, but his former Crimson Tide teammates have not lacked their condolences on social media.
Nick Saban also shared his thoughts on the passing of his former defensive lineman.
Washington was part of Alabama’s historic 2009 SEC Championship and BCS National Championship team which was Saban’s first national championship with the Crimson Tide. Washington was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys and served as a key member of their practice squad. The Loganville native also suited up for the New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Detroit Lions before retiring in 2013.
Washington moved to Dallas following his football career and became a sales associate at Berkshire Hathaway Automotive. In 2017, Washington became owner of TRIO Protection Services, LLC which is a private security company also located in Dallas. In 2018, he joined Ethos Group as a finance manager.
Lorenzo Washington will be not only remembered as a fantastic football player but as an example of how athletes can continue their careers outside of football.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Washington family and from all of us here at Tide100.9, R.I.P. 'Zo.
