Firefighters & Police Responding to Blaze at West Tuscaloosa’s Hunt Refining Wednesday
Police and firefighters were at Hunt Refining in West Tuscaloosa, responding to an active blaze on site late Wednesday morning.
Details are still sparse, but Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service, confirmed that they responded to Hunt Refining to deal with an active fire after an explosion heard around the city.

This is the company's west Tuscaloosa facility, off Sanders Ferry Road.
No word yet on the extent of the fire or if anyone was injured, but heavy smoke was visible across Tuscaloosa from the incident.
Mayor Walt Maddox has weighed in and praised the city's firefighters as well as the team at Hunt for handling a dangerous situation quickly and safely.
In an afternoon update, Whigham said TFR called back their units and left the final work to the company's own Response Team.
