A West Alabama man died Wednesday evening in a tractor accident in Fayette County, State Troopers shared on Thursday.

Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the accident claimed the life of 71-year-old Sammy E. Hindman, a Fayette man who was operating a 1965 John Deere 2510 tractor.

Corble said a bale of hay fell off the front hooks of the tractor, which then collided with the bale and overturned.

Hindman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place on Turner Road near Mt. Lebanon Road about seven miles northwest of Fayette, Corble said.

The single-vehicle accident took place around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Corble said. No other details were available on Thursday, and Troopers said ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.
