Victims in Eutaw Double Homicide Were Woman and Young Daughter
The victims killed in a double murder in Eutaw Wednesday evening were a woman and her 20-year-old daughter, the Thread has learned.
Eutaw Police Chief Tommy Johnson said officers were called to a shooting, which they believe was domestic in nature, and found a 49-year-old mother and her daughter had been shot.
Johnson said both victims were taken to the Greene County Hospital by private cars, but both later died.
The mother was identified as Ramonda Powell and daughter was identified as 20-year-old Ashanti Cheatem.
The suspect, 59-year-old Donald Jones, reportedly was or had been in a relationship with Powell. He was arrested Wednesday night and was booked into the Greene County Jail, although Johnson said he may get transferred to the Sumter County Jail at a later time.
