
Celebrating The Heart Of Education At The Apple Awards
The Tuscaloosa City School System has recognized 21 teachers, 23 support employees, and the system's Teacher of the Year and Support Employee of the Year winners. The honors are part of the 14th Annual "Apple Awards" that took place at the Tuscaloosa River Market downtown.

And the winners are:
Teacher Awards:
- Elementary Teacher of the Year: Tamra Snelson
- MS/HS Teacher of the Year: Brandon Turley
- District Teacher of the Year: Jason HerringSupport Employee Awards:
- Support Employee of the Year: Joe Fowler
- Central Support Team Employee of the Year: Katie Matchette/Aundra Hudson
- TCS Support Employee of the Year: Katie Smith
The system also presented the Shelley E. Jones Community Spirit Award to organizations making an impact on education. Those were Hewson Family Foundation which supported Reading Allies and the CEO Program, United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama with the greenhouse initiative which provides fresh produce to Tuscaloosa City Schools and DCH and the Youth Development Leadership Program.
The system commented on the those who have contributed to success in a Facebook post. "...we couldn’t be prouder of the work YOU do!
