Crimson Tide Must Contain This Alabama Native on Saturday
Alabama head football coach Nick Saban appeared on the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, where he gave his thoughts on a key Ole Miss player.
Alabama native and current Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins has been a standout for the Rebels all season, arguably the best on the team.
Saban gave his analysis on the star freshman.
“He’s a good player, he’s had an outstanding year, had a lot of production. [The] guy is a really good competitor. Does a good job of executing the plays that they ask him to run,” said Saban. “He’s relentless in the way he carries the ball, he’s tough, he can run behind his pads, he can make you miss, he’s got pretty good speed.”
Saban also noted that the Crimson Tide looked at Judkins before he entered the college ranks.
“We looked at him and coming out [of] last year in hindsight it would be great if he was on our team,” said Saban.
The Pike Road graduate was listed as a three-star prospect by many recruiting platforms and the top-rated running back and no. 18 overall prospect out of Alabama, according to Rivals.
Judkins and the Ole Miss rushing attack will have to be contained if Alabama wants to win on Saturday. The Rebels rank third in the nation and first in the SEC in rushing yards per game (267.2). Currently, Judkins ranks second in the SEC in rushing yards overall (1036).
Kickoff in Oxford is set for 2:30 p.m. CST on Saturday. Game day coverage will be available all day on Tide 100.9 and 95.3 The Bear.
