Two cousins have been arrested and after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted at a party in Tuscaloosa earlier this week.

Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said a 25-year-old woman contacted police Tuesday and said she had been sexually assaulted by at least two men at a gathering in Tuscaloosa earlier this week.

The woman had been drinking, Kennedy said, and told investigators she had almost no memory of the events themselves but believed she had been victimized after talking with other people who were at the gathering.

Kennedy said the VCU's Sexual Assault Section began an immediate investigation and were able to speak to witnesses and review video evidence, all of which corroborated the victim's account that she was unable to consent to any kind of sexual activity during the party.

Two suspects, who are cousins "to some degree" were arrested in connection to this case -- 31-year-old Zachery Rashawn Mack and 34-year-old Daryl Mack.

The younger Mack was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

The older cousin, Daryl Mack, was charged with first-degree rape. His bond was set at $60,000.

Kennedy said investigators believe the cousins may have had other victims, and asked anyone else who believes that they may have experienced a similar assault by men to please contact the VCU at 205-464-8690.
