Patrons at Buddy's Rib & Steak diner in Northport had their breakfasts interrupted Tuesday morning when a car slammed into the front of the restaurant, breaking doors and windows and partially collapsing a portion of the exterior brick wall.

Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, said investigators believe the collision was accidental, and the driver of the SUV that struck the building was not arrested.

"At 9:17 a.m. today, a 71-year-old female pulled into the parking lot of Buddy's Rib and Steak and struck the building," Carpenter said. "No reported injuries and the accident is being investigated by Northport Traffic division."
