A Facebook page is calling out Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox for what is said to be a lack of maintenance at the Tuscaloosa National Airport.

"The FAA has told Walt he needs a full-time electrician for the airport. But has he hired one? No." Read a post on the Facebook page Sunshine on City Hall. The page is known for speaking on issues pertaining to the City of Tuscaloosa and its city officials.

The page states that eight people are responsible for maintaining city facilities and also all of the facilities and preventative maintenance at the Tuscaloosa National Airport. "There’s no readily available way to do this work amid all the other open work orders from the city’s nearly 140 (and growing!) facilities," the page stated in a post.

The post featured a picture of what was said to be open work orders for the Tuscaloosa National Airport.

The post stated, "The Tuscaloosa airport is and has been neglected by not having the assets on hand to maintain safe launch and recovery of all the flights that leave day and night."

According to the post, the eight-man team has fifty open preventative maintenance work orders with some dating back to 2020.

The page then speaks on Mayor Walt Maddox allegedly not spending money on maintenance for the airport. "While he’s paving runways, extending runways, paving the apron, and getting giddy about building a new terminal…he hasn’t spent a DIME on facilities maintenance for the airport."
