Bibb County Mother Charged In Attack On Her 3 Young Children

44-year-old Kendra Yolanda Griffin is facing charges of two counts of attempted murder, one count of third-degree domestic violence assault, and first-degree kidnapping, according to Bibb County court records.

The mother of three was placed in the Bibb County Jail after the alleged attacks on her children. The records show Griffin stabbed her two sons with a kitchen knife and assaulted her teenage daughter.

Officers responded to Griffin's home in Brent around 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning and discovered, according to charging records, that Griffin had attempted to stab her two sons – believed to be ages 12 and 18 - with a kitchen knife.

The two boys had been able to grab the knife blade with their hands and managed to get away from their mother.

Griffin then reportedly attacked her 16-year-old daughter, injuring her during the fight. The extent of the injuries are unknown.

In Alabama, Attempted Murder is a "Class A" felony that can carry a 10 to 99-year sentence, or up to a life sentence for each charge. A First-Degree kidnapping charge is a "Class A" felony and can carry a sentence of 10 to 99 years in prison, or a life sentence. A third-degree Domestic Violence/Assault charge can bring a sentence of up to one year in jail and up to a $6,000 fine.

No further details have been released at this point and the Brent Police Department says the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
