Woodrow Washington is a Black History Maker

Northport City Councilman and businessman Woodrow Washington III, is making a big impact in Northport and West Alabama. Washington ran for district 2 in Northport in 2020 and won his current seat. He also is the owner of Archibald BBQ, Archibald and Archibald & Woodrow's BBQ. Washington also owns New Life CRF (State Contractor for the Department of Intellectual Disability) as well. Archibald's BBQ business is well known in West Alabama and has endured even in the pandemic. His love for BBQ has won him several awards and nominations nationally and regionally.
Washington is a retired Fire Captain from Tuscaloosa Fire Service and is a retired MSGT from the United States Air Force Reserve. The Northport community is benefiting from his service background to help move Northport forward by spearheading the renovation of the Robert Hasson Community Center and offering tutoring assistance to children in K-12 in partnership with the University of Alabama and Academics in Motion on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Washington graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and is a college graduate of Stillman College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He is a proud member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Tuscaloosa, AL, and a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Northport, Alabama.
Councilman Washington was elected to the City Council in October 2020. He is currently serving his first term. The overall current goal for his district is to ensure every citizen of District 2 voice is heard while meeting the needs of all citizens in District 2 and bridging the gap between City Hall and the community.
Woodrow Washington is a family man. He is married to Marie J. Washington and has two sons, Kerry Matthew Jr., and Woodrow Washington IV. Washington also has five grandchildren: Tristan Williams, Jordan Scruggs, Treasure Anderson, Kerry Matthews III, and Damon Bishop. He loves spending time with family and friends community service and developing our youth through sports.
