The No. 11 Alabama soccer team broke through in the second half on Thursday night to take down the No. 5 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 2-0. The Crimson Tide's big win gives Alabama two wins over top-10 opponents in a single season for the first time in school history and its third over a top-25 opponent.

The Tide dominated the game, leading in shots, 20-6 and corner kicks, 5-2. Alabama scored in the 53rd minute off a a Felicia Knox one-timer. It was the second goal of her Alabama career and her first game-winning goal of the year.

“What a massive win for our program tonight. I thought we played well from start to finish and dominated large stretches of the match. I thought it was our most complete game of the season. So many great performances by so many different players. So great to get a top-five win at home in front of an awesome crowd. Once again, they played a big role in the game," said Alabama head coach Wes Hart.

Roughly one minute later Riley Mattingly Parker receive service from Knox off a free kick. Parker converted the cross with a header and sealed the deal for Alabama and settle the game at 2-0. It was Parker's seventh goal of the season and the seventh assist for Knox.

With the win the Tide now has 11 consecutive home wins and gave the Gamecocks its first loss of the season. Alabama returns to action on Sunday for an out of conference matchup with Chattanooga. The teams face off on Sunday, Sep. 18 at 6 p.m. CT at Alabama Soccer Stadium.
